Dr David Harvey-Sutton Gallery

The Dr David Harvey-Sutton Gallery hosts many workshops, exhibitions and events throughout the year. The gallery is situated on Scarr Street and is incorporated within the Bob McDonald Library. To gain access to the gallery during business hours, visitors must enter through the Bob McDonald Library.

The Gallery is available to showcase personal artwork showings and to hire for private functions. Please contact Council's Venue Coordinator on 07 4742 4100 or at Council@cloncurry.qld.gov.au for more information regarding showcasing artwork in the gallery or venue hire.

Everyday Abstractions 2 February to 30 March

Julie Sisco is a fine art photographer who lives on the idyllic and beautiful North Stradbroke Island. Her artwork consists of mostly charming seascapes, breathtaking nature and décor art. Often creating a sense of happiness, peace & calm.

Wayne Budge is an Award-Winning Australian photographer from Brisbane who is known for his stunning landscape images from around Australia, as well as Europe and the USA. His work transcends into a parallel dimension exposing the hidden virtues of his subject creating intrigue & thought.
Cloncurry's Art Scene 1 April to 16 May Explore the past 70 years of the prestigious Ernest Henry Art Competition. Showcasing artistic expression in various forms, this exhibition honors previous winners & celebrates diversity.

NAIDOC Art Exhibition

1-24 July

50 years of Deadly, this year’s exhibition celebrates the voices of our communities. Fifty years of Deadly is a tribute to the people who built this movement through the showcasing the rich cultural heritage and artistic mastery of First Nations artists.

Ringers of the Coppermine Creek 27 July to 29 August

A tribute exhibition of documents and photographs of the ringers of Coppermine Creek who worked on all the cattle stations around the Cloncurry region. From the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s era sharing the local history through their eyes.

Ernest Henry Art Competition 7 September to 5October 2026 marks 70 years of the Ernest Henry Art Competition hosted at the Dr David Harvey Sutton Gallery Cloncurry. Celebrating diverse artistic expressions, inviting entries in various forms, including painting, sculpture, photography and drawing. With a generous prize pool of $8,000 the competition aims to recognize and reward exceptional talent, fostering a vibrant artist community. Held in the gallery known for its dedication to the arts, the competition exhibition not only showcases creative excellence but also supports artists in their professional journey.
Senior's Exhibition 12 October to 6 November   Join us in celebrating the artist contributions of our senior community. Inspiring forms of mixed media and unique creations, something for everyone.
